Our solar panel project would have offered free solar panels to residents in a marginalised area and the feed in tarif would have supported local community groups. The proposed restrictions for multi fits has not considered the impact on community groups and unless this proposal is reconsidered it will be difficult, if not impossible to offer marginalised communities the opportunity to make use of solar energy and have feed tarifs that can make a real difference to sustaining wider community projects Dawn Mannay Cardiff I am part of a community group, Futurespace that aims to reduce use of natural resources and combat fuel poverty. Look back to the Spanish situation of 2007. If there is no action on the FIT, the current falling costs of PV systems could trigger a complete collapse in the new UK market. But I think we must all stay focused - The real issue we face is climate change and clean fossil fuel alternatives to combat rising prices and political insecurity. What ever rate or timescale is introduced is only going to alter the situation by weeks or months in terms of money running out of this low low ''budget'' - The public are currently paying for this at a rate of £1 per house at the moment (if we believe the stats) and heaven for bid but to protect ALL our futures it may cost £25 each in 8-10 years - SO WHAT. I would happily pay £100's per year to protect our global futures and what will fossil fuel dependancy cost as an alternative. Meanwhile as stated - WE the public pay this and the Govt have earned £260 ish million in tax revenue from solar business, whilst in a sagging economy 25,000 people have found jobs and over 100,000 could do by 2015/6 if we try to catch up our international cousins on renewable deployments levels - So why oh why oh why, will our '''green'' and business ''friendly'' govt not protect all our futures and just raise the ''budget'' - It is surley the only point on this subject that is worth debating if we are serious about our collective futures (all the other items are only sticking plasters) - we must act on climate change and energy and be prepared to part annually with whatever it takes !! RAISE THE BUDGET - or takes the stumps up and push back from a healthy future for ALL our kids (short sighted - politicians included). The FIT reduction amount needs to be reduced gradually and in line with the fall in the prices of the Solar systems and installation costs. It would appear that costs of supplying & installing a <4kw domestic Solar PV system has only fallen by about 15% to the customer. So equating this amount to the reduction in the FIT's would be reduction to about 35pence for each Kw generated. The Government should probably review the FIT payments every 6 months. Not forgetting though the increase in the RPI!!!. Brian John Wright.
